We recently started a tradition here at the Fi New York office of replacing coffee with wine during our Thursday Fika. We have aptly named these special days Wine Tasting Fika Thursday’s. Every week an employee plays host, bringing in two bottles of wine to share with the team. Everyone gathers around our dining table, and the host speaks about the wine, its flavor and history. We then go around the table and give everyone a taste of the wines. Afterwards, we pick which of the two was our favorite and hold a discussion.

This particular Thursday one of our designers, Yaron, brought in some Israeli wines. He started off with a brief overview of his home country Israel, complete with maps for those in the group who didn’t know where Israel was. The consensus was the wine was quite dry, to which Yaron responded “it’s very hot in Israel.” ;-) Here are some pictures I took of the occasion to share with you guys.

Jamal (J) your a riot dude! Show some respect. This is a professional site, with professional individuals voicing strong view points. I am sure behind the foul languages you have something to say in a more respectful manner. Fi, you truly need some sort of filtering system to catch these derogatory words.

I think this is an amazing idea, I'm a wine fan, and have some good portuguese wines at my place. I would be glad to send you guys a bottle of portuguese wine so you guys could try. We have some of the best wines out their.
All the best.

@ Planche: A kind offer indeed, we would love some recommendations. Recently, I have found myself leaning towards Merlot and Merlot blends, though I have been known to throw back some Malbec. The wine fika is an excellent way for the team to take a moment late in the week to relax, chat and enjoy a glass.

Well I am not a big wine fan but I gotta say I really like the idea. Its nice to bring the group together and just hang out and get away from work for a bit.

Why do some posts go up, then get deleted within 24 hours??

@Jason: You should try to find Cartuxa wine or Bacalhoa, these are very good wines and not very expensive (that depends on each one point of view).

I really liked the 2nd one Yaron. Last weeks Bulgarian Wine wasnt as nice. Irish Wine, now thats going to be the best Fika, the guiness extracts make wine making in Ireland a popular past time :)

I'm from Verona, in the Valpolicella zone. I'd like to partecipate to your Fika!
I think also another name could be 'wine ot', as for 'why not'.
